Fall 2016 Cohort - The Ethics of Physical Embodiment
When speaking of our physical embodiment, many qualities, attributes, and representations come to mind. The Fall 2016 Cohort will be open to researching issues related, but not limited to, issues of masculinity, femininity, ageism, skin color, gender, sizeism, ableism, media representation, and the list goes on. Applicants are encouraged to propose topics that could fall under this umbrella theme of The Ethics of Physical Embodiment.

  • Alex Almodovar

    Alex Amodovar

    Alex graduated from KSU in July of 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sport Management and a concentration in Marketing. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Governmental Administration and has managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA. Alex has won numerous awards and honors during his time as an undergraduate and graduate student here at KSU while also volunteering in events such as TedX “The Unknown”, along with other events hosted on campus. His awards include: President’s list, Dean’s List, “Who’s Who” Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2015, Most Improved Seller in his Professional Sales class, and the Juanelle Edwards MPA Scholarship among others.

    Alex has worked with various professional organizations including most recently with the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Braves. He has also travelled to many countries including Argentina, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Romania. His goals and aspirations are to land a career within the federal government working for an administrative agency in order to best serve the public’s interest as a civil servant.

  • Bethany Wyman

    Bethany Wyman

    Bethany is currently a senior at Kennesaw State University.  She will graduate with a BS in Psychology, a minor in Applied Statistics and Data Analysis, and a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies in fall 2016.  During her time at KSU, she has served as a research assistant for three different professors over the course of three semesters and has served as a teacher’s assistant for one semester.  

    Bethany is coauthor of a research project titled “Consequences of Eustress and Distress on Working Memory."  The research was presented as a poster at the NCUR conference in spring of 2016.  She is currently working on two independent research endeavors of her own as a way to end her time at KSU in a positive and upward manner. Bethany plans on attending graduate school and ultimately earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology.  As a nontraditional adult student, Bethany has had to overcome many personal obstacles to achieve her goals, but her motivation is her personal motto: “There is nothing I cannot do; there are only things I can’t do *yet*.”

      Lauren Morrow

      Laura is currently a full-time student entering her senior year at Kennesaw State University.  She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  She started her education at Georgia Highlands College, where she graduated with an Associate’s of Art in Psychology in 2015.  After graduation, she continued her education in the 2+2 program located at Kennesaw State University Paulding campus, where she plans on graduating in the summer of 2017.  As a student assistant, Laura implemented an Internship program at KSU-Paulding where she plans, monitors, and assists students in applying for internships.  

      Laura also serves as a Peer Success Coach to students transferring from GHC to KSU as part of the 2+2 Psychology program.  Throughout her academic career, she has received the HOPE scholarship, been listed on the President’s List, and earned membership into the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa.  Laura has held multiple leadership positions throughout her undergraduate career such as President of the Cross Country Club and Secretary of the Kiwanis Circle K-Paulding as well as earning a certificate from Emerging Leaders.  Laura is the head coach for Upward soccer and is a Youth Coordinator for middle and high school students at her church.  After graduation, she plans on becoming a life coach for middle school girls.  During her (rare) down time, Laura loves to run, draw, paint, and read. When times are hard, she always finds herself going back to this quote. “The limitations of our abilities are the strains we put on ourselves.”  -unknown

    • Michelle Edward

      Michelle Edward

      Michelle is currently a senior at Kennesaw State University who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biology. Having the opportunity to attend middle and high school outside of the United States exposed Michelle to a variety of rich cultures that have fueled her desire to learn more about the world and embrace diversity. During her time at KSU, she has worked with the Center of Student Leadership as an Owl Leadership Fellow and a Coordinator for the Engaged Owl Leaders Program, in an effort to encourage student involvement and growth. She is also the Vice-President of the Odyssey Peer Mentoring Program at Kennesaw State. When Michelle isn’t studying or working on her research projects, she loves to travel, spend time with family and meet new people. A huge advocate of mental and physical wellness, Michelle lives by this motto: “…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself; for each day has enough trouble of its own.” Take a deep breath and LIVE.

      • Charisse Allen

        Charisse Allen

        Charisse is a senior this year at Kennesaw State University who recently received the honor of being on the Dean's List and the President's List for her most recent academic performance. She will graduate with a degree in Integrative Studies with concentrations in Biology and Sociology and will always be awarded with a Leadership Certificate in 2017. She has been apart of the Residence Life Department, Fraternity and Sorority Life, an on campus ministry and is a member of the American Medical Student Association. This is her first independent research project but may continue involving herself in research after she graduates and goes on into medical school. Having recently completed a medical internship in Spain, her ultimate goals in life are to be an Air Force Physician while traveling the world, helping those who are most in need. No matter where she goes in the world, her plans are to always go with God.
